Housing Planning & Implementation

IN NEW ENGLAND

Communities across New England are facing difficult housing questions.

How can we create more housing opportunities while respecting the qualities people value about their community? How can we make housing more affordable for current and future residents? Where should housing be located? What types of housing are needed? And how can communities move from planning to action?

At JM Goldson, we help communities answer these questions through thoughtful planning, meaningful community engagement, and practical implementation strategies.

At JM Goldson, we help communities answer these questions through thoughtful planning, meaningful community engagement, and practical implementation strategies.

Our work begins with understanding local housing needs, market conditions, community goals, and development opportunities. We then help communities build a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face, creating space for productive conversations about housing, growth, affordability, and community priorities.

Because we are both planners and facilitators, we bring together technical expertise and community dialogue. We help residents, boards, committees, and local leaders understand complex issues, explore tradeoffs, and participate meaningfully in decisions that will shape their community's future.

Our Approach

Our approach is grounded in the belief that successful housing solutions must work in the real world. They must respond to local needs, reflect community values, and fit thoughtfully within the physical fabric of a place.

We help communities move beyond planning documents and toward implementation through Housing Plans, Affordable Housing Trust Action Plans, Municipal Land Disposition Strategies, and other housing-related initiatives.

Whether a community is just beginning to explore its housing needs or is ready to implement specific housing strategies, we help create a clear path forward that is built on sound analysis, meaningful participation, and practical action.

They helped us navigate a very difficult task and gave us a roadmap to accomplish it, then walked us through that roadmap until the task was complete.

Planning your next project, grant application, or procurement?

We've made it easier.

For each of our core services, we offer a standard scope: a clear, transparent description of what the work includes, phase by phase. These scopes are designed to support municipalities through grant submissions and the RFQ, RFP, and procurement process, giving you reliable language and structure to build on. Every standard scope is also a starting point. We're happy to customize any of them to fit your community's goals, timeline, and budget.

If you'd like to talk through which scope fits your project, or shape a custom one, book a meeting with a member of our team.
