In Westport last night we had an engaged crowd ready to learn about Municipal Affordable Housing Trusts - what they are and what they can do. One purpose of the forum was to encourage potential candidates to apply for a seat on the Board of Trustees for Westport's new housing trust. Over the next few months, I will be working with the community and the new board to identify goals and priority initiatives in anticipation of a request for Community Preservation Act funds at spring town meeting.
Westport did a fantastic job publicizing the event last night - their efforts even drew citizens from other communities. Here is one announcement in The Herald News "Westport forum focuses on the town's affordable housing trust."
